06/07/2001 (Agence Europe) - Expressing deep concern following the adoption of the Turkish law on public sector employee trade unions (which, he says, threatens their trade union rights), Emilio Gabaglio, General Secretary of the European Trade Union Confederation, said: "ETUC supported Turkey's request for EU membership, but this supposes total respect of trade union rights. The decision taken is in contradiction with European and international standards".
