Parliamentary Assembly denounces attacks on freedom of the press

Strasbourg, 30/04/2001 (Agence Europe) - At its plenary session in Strasbourg last week, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe denounced the serious attack against the freedom of expression in the press currently taking place in Europe. In his report, the Hungarian Socialist, Gyula Hegyi, in particular criticized "Azerbaijan, Russia, Turkey and Ukraine that have the largest number of journalists victims of physical aggressions". Over 120 journalists have been killed in Russia...
