Brussels, 27/03/2001 (Agence Europe) - Accusing the EU of being irresponsible towards the situation in Macedonia "in all these years", Olivier Dupuis, MEP on the Lista Bonino, recalls several proposals made by his party, the Transnational Radical Party, likely in his view to trigger off a settlement to the crisis that is tearing this region apart.
Mr Dupuis mainly suggests: - the immediate inclusion of Macedonia in the list of candidate countries to EU membership; - the immediate withdrawal on the part of Greece of its veto on the use of the name Macedonia; - a substantial increase in the financial contribution to the Albanian-speaking University of Tetevo; - the rapid definition of the areas of competence of the future Government and the future Parliament of Kosovo and the setting for the general election; - and the creation of an annual European quota of 300,000 work permits for the citizens of Albania, Kosovo and Macedonia.
