London, 27/03/2001 (Agence Europe) - The British Institute of International and Comparative Law is organising its first annual conference on international and comparative competition law in London on 18 May. The main emphasis will be on European competition law but there will be inputs from the United States and elsewhere. After an introduction by the Conference Chairman, Advocate General Francis Jacobs, the European Competition Commissioner, Mario Monti, will be making a keynote speech.
The main topics covered are globalisation, analysis of market power, e-commerce, mergers and the role of the European Court of Justice and national competition authorities. The speakers include high ranking European Commission officials, including the Director General of DG Competition, Alexander Schaub.
