Seoul, 27/03/2001 (Agence Europe) - The South Korean Foreign Minister has welcomed the decision by the European Summit in Stockholm to send an EU delegation to Seoul and Pyongyang in the month of May if possible. The delegation would be made up of the President of the European Council Göran Persson, the High Representative for European Common Foreign and Security Policy Javier Solana and the European Commissioner for External Relations Chris Patten (see 25 March special Stockholm Summit edition of EUROPE, page 2). The Minister said that he greatly appreciated the efforts being made by the EU to support peace and stability on the Korean peninsula and hoped that the visit would help advance the reconciliation and cooperation process between the two Koreas.
