CABLE & WIRELESS (UK) has confirmed the sale of its 52.5% stake in the Australian operator OPTUS to SINGTEL for some £2.7 bn, of which 1.7 bn in cash. SINGTEL's offer values OPTUS at Australian $17.2 bn. See yesterday's EI.
