Summit of Nice opens on Thursday with the proclamation of fundamental rights without direct benefit for citizens

Brussels, 06/12/2000 (Agence Europe) - It is a delegation of three members of the European Commission - Michel Barnier, Chris Patten and Gunther Verheugen - that will, with President Romano Prodi, participate in the European Council that is to open in Nice Thursday afternoon by the formal proclamation of the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union.
