Public transport operators regret exemptions which, they feel, make Commission proposal on opening public transport up to competition devoid of all meaning

Brussels, 22/11/2000 (Agence Europe) - The exemptions to the call for tender obligations set out in the European Commission proposal on opening European public transport up to competition, remove a large part of the interest of the regulation presented in June. This at least is the opinion of a large number of the European public transport representatives who took part, on Tuesday, at a round table discussion held in Brussels by the International Union of Public Transport (IUPT).
