Luxembourg, 25/09/2000 (Agence Europe) - Confirming a decision by the European Commission, the Court of Justice declared as unlawful German state aid in favour of investment in the new Länder and West Berlin. In so doing, the Court at the same time strictly restricted the application of the provision of the Treaty of Rome which declares certain aid to regions "affected by the division of Germany" as compatible with the common market.
