The French EDF- ELECTRICITE DE FRANCE would be interested, under certain conditions, in a take-over of power stations belonging to its Italian competitor ENEL. This sale of a part of the ENEL power stations is made necessary by the new Italian competition rules, which foresee that as of 2003, no operator will be able to hold more than 50% of the countries production capacity.
