Operation authorised by Commission:

Brussels, 25/09/2000 (Agence Europe) - Other than the joint ventures between Deutsche Bank/Enel and Peugeot/Vivendi (see following page), the European Commission authorised a series of operations, in the light of European competition regulations, namely:

The creation of a joint venture between the American companies ABB Lummus and Equistar, for the acquisition of the polypropylene activities of Novolen (BASF), presently held by its subsidiary Targor,

The creation of a joint venture, "Ben Nederland Holding", between the Belgian company Belgacom, the Danes, Telemark and T-Mobile International (subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom) for the management of a UMTS network in the Netherlands,

The take-over of the production units for computer materials of Italdata (joint venture between Siemens and Telecom Italia) by the Singapore company, Flextronic International,

The joint take-over of John Manville Corp, producer of construction material, by the American companies Thomas O. Hicks and Bear Stearns Cie,

The take-over of the electronic components distributor Memec (division of VEBA Electronic, subsidiary of E.ON) by Schroder Ventures,

The merger of electrical installation activities of the Norwegian company Telenor and the Scandinavian investment company Procuras Capital Partners,

The joint take-over of the Czech publisher, Stratosfera, by the Dutch editors VNU and the American Hearst.
