ECONOMIC INTERPENETRATION / (eu) main operations carried out in august

(EU) Information technology: The French information technology computer ATOS (turnover EUR 1.08 billion for the 1998/99 financial year with 11,000 employed) has acquired, for the sum of EUR 2.6 billion, ORIGIN, the information technology subsidiary of the Dutch electronics group PHILIPS with which it plans to merge. The pro forma turnover of ATOS ORIGIN is estimated at EUR 2.8 billion with 27,000 employed in 30 countries.
