ECONOMIC INTERPENETRATION / (eu) beverages

The British group DIAGEO (wines and spirits) and French PERNOD RICARD have made a joint bid for the purchase of the SEAGRAM "spirits" division, a branch that the Canadian group hopes to sell in the context of its merger with French VIVENDI (see EI of 22 June). The division is valued at between $7 and 9 billion.
