Brussels, 29/08/2000 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission welcomes the publication of a new British scientific study into the possibility, of the BSE infectious agent (Bovine spongiform encephalopathy), crossing the species barrier. The EU Scientific Steering Committee will thus be handed the results of this study, which supports the concerns it had put forward in its opinion of last April; if it is the case, it will issue an new opinion.
