PHILIPS (1999 turnover EUR 31.5 billion with over 232,000 employed) is to acquire the US toothbrush manufacturer OPTIVA (annual turnover $175 million with 600 employed) for an undisclosed amount. The operation will allow PHILIPS to rise to second place worldwide for dental hygiene accessories.
