Commission clears acquisition of joint control of MEPC by GECC and BT Pension Scheme

Brussels, 28/07/2000 (Agence Europe) - The Commission has cleared the acquisition of joint control of Britain's real estate company MEPC Plc by General Electric Capital Corp (GECC), a subsidiary of the American General Electric Co, and BT Pension Scheme (BTPS). The activities of the buyers and of MEPC overlap in the UK market, but given the limited market share of the three parties (short of 15%), the operation will not create any distortions of competition.
