The Anglo-Dutch group REED ELSEVIER has paid UNITED NEWS AND MEDIA 585 million euro for MILLER FREEMAN EUROPE (exhibitions, professional publications: £118 million turnover in 1999). This acquisition will make REED EXHIBTION COMPANIES, REED ELSEVIER subsidiary, the foremost organiser of exhibitions with over 440 events organised in 29 countries and a pro forma turnover of £419 million in 1999).
