Commission authorises German research and development aid to Sican, but calls for refund of part of funds paid to Sican partners

Brussels, 26/07/2000 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission approved the aid for research and development granted by Germany to the Sican group for research projects in microelectronics, but calls for the partial reimbursement of the aid granted to certain Sican partners.

The commission feels that the EUR 100 million in p8iblic funds paid to the Sican company (Hanover, Lower Saxony) between 1990 and 1998 do not constitute State aid, "since it covered costs incurred by Sican group for...
