On condition of major sell-offs, Commission approves merger of agrochemical businesses of AstraZeneca and Novartis within Syngenta AG, which is also to take over the seeds division of Novartis

Brussels, 26/07/2000 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has approved the merger of the agrochemicals activities of the Anglo-Swedish firm AsttraZeneca Plc and the Swiss firm Novartis AG. The two groups' phytosanitary activities will be pooled into a new company, called Syngenta AG, which will be the world leader in the crop protection business.
