Commission proposes to ban diamond imports

Brussels, 26/07/2000 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission adopted a Council proposal aiming to ban imports of diamonds originating in Sierra Leon, thus implementing the resolution to this effect from the United Nations Security Council. The Commission is proposing that sanctions be foreseen in case of violations to these measures.
