Brussels, 10/07/2000 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has only received a partial "go ahead" from the Council for the strategy that it hoped to follow, after eight months of fruitless talks around a "historic" quota solution, with a view to resolving the dispute over bananas. The General Affairs Council did in fact authorise it to implement the first part of this strategy - to explore the possibility of finalising a mechanism for breakdown of quotas of the "first come first served"...
