Mr. Monti confirmed that Commission could oppose Sprint-WorldCom merger

Washington/Brussels, 27/06/2000 (Agence Europe) - Commissioner Mario Monti confirmed that the Commission could soon take a negative decision over the merger of the telecommunication operators Sprint and WorldCom, due to the limits that this merger would place on Internet competition. During a press conference, Monday in Washington, he said that, in the present dossier, he would recommend opposition to this merger.
