Greenpeace calls for an end to "pirate fishing" by vessels flying flags of convenience

Brussels, 02/06/2000 (Agence Europe) - Given the deterioration in the state of stocks of tuna and related species in the Atlantic and the Mediterranean, Greenpeace International has called for the upcoming Fisheries Council of the European Union (15 and 16 June in Luxembourg) to take measures to fight "pirate fishing" by vessels flying flags of convenience. Greenpeace explains that it uses this term because the vessels in question move from one fishing area to the next, taking huge catches...
