23/02/2000 (Agence Europe) - Jaime Gama, EU Council President, told the press in answer to questions on elections in Iran, that, though there is still "a long way to go", signs given by the population are "a positive step on the road to reform". The EU, he said, will have the opportunity to fully discuss "this new situation" during the Iranian Foreign Minister's visit to Lisbon (at a date still to be set).
