In support of recognition and creation of general interest services at European level

Brussels, 13/01/2000 (Agence Europe) - The "European Liaison Committee on Services of General Interest" recommends the recognition and creation of such services at European level. In addition, the place of general interest services should be recognised in the "Charter of Fundamental Rights" for Union citizens, which is currently being drawn up.

A note signed by the committee's directors responsible for publication, Mr Jean Claude Boual and Mr Pierre Bauby, gives the reasons for and the aims...
