25/06/2026 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 25 June, MEPs on the European Parliament’s Committee on Security and Defence (SEDE); Committee on the Environment, Climate and Food Safety (ENVI); and the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy (ITRE) approved - by 119 votes in favour, 11 against, and one abstention - the interinstitutional agreement reached on 10 June on the text amending Regulations 1907/2006, 1272/2008, 528/2012, 2019/1021, and 2021/697 on defence readiness, on facilitating investments in defence, and on conditions for the defence industry. The previous day, MEPs had approved the interinstitutional agreements on simplifying intra-EU transfers of defence-related products and simplifying procurement as well as on accelerating the permit-granting process (see EUROPE 13871/4). The agreement on these various texts is expected to be adopted during the plenary session in September. (CG)
