25/06/2026 (Agence Europe) – The Council of the EU formally adopted, on Thursday 25 June, the two regulations implementing the tariff commitments in the EU-US joint statement. The first text will apply from the date of entry into force (publication in the Official Journal of the European Union is scheduled for 30 June, according to our information) until 31 December 2029. The regulation will be reviewed during 2029 (see EUROPE 13871/1). The second agreement, on lobster, will apply retroactively from 1 August 2025 until 31 July 2030. The main regulation, accompanied by safeguards defended by the European Parliament, “promotes stable and predictable trade flows with the United States while ensuring that the EU can react […] when the agreement is not respected or its interests are threatened”, welcomed the Cypriot Minister for Energy, Trade and Industry, Michael Damianos.
