On Tuesday 21 April, the European Commission approved the continuation of a call for tenders for the Lisbon rail link under the Foreign Subsidies Regulation, after a Chinese service provider was removed from the process.
Last November, according to AFP, the European Commission opened an investigation into the Chinese rail manufacturer CRRC, a state-owned company suspected of having benefited from subsidies from Beijing that could have distorted the award procedure for this contract.
