Road deaths to fall by 3% in EU by 2025, according to European Commission

According to figures published by the European Commission on Tuesday 24 March, road deaths dropped by 3% between 2024 and 2025. However, “most Member States are not yet on track to meet the EU’s goal of halving road deaths and serious injuries by 2030”, according to the press release.

Preliminary figures put the number of deaths in 2025 at around 19,400, a decrease of 580. “Given the increase in vehicles on EU roads and kilometres driven, this is a significant achievement”,...
