European Commission defends its handling of contaminated infant milk crisis

On Tuesday 24 March, the European Commission defended its handling of the crisis linked to the contamination of infant milk by Bacillus cereus, producer of the heat-resistant toxin cereulide, before the European Parliament’s Committee on Environment. These contaminations have led to major product recalls by manufacturers such as Lactalis and Nestlé, in connection with a raw material imported from China (ARA oil).
