06/02/26 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 4 February, the EU and Jordan held their first Security and Defence Dialogue, in Amman, announced the European External Action Service on 6 February. According to the EEAS, the two sides discussed their respective peace and security initiatives, sharing their views on ongoing developments and possible common approaches. They discussed several areas of cooperation, such as maritime security in the Red Sea and the upholding of international maritime law, the countering of terrorism, and substantial EU support to the Jordanian armed forces through the ‘European Peace Facility’. The two sides agreed to increase cooperation on the training of Palestinian Civil Police officers for deployment to Gaza. (CG)
