06/02/2026 (Agence Europe) – On Friday 6 February, the World Health Organization (WHO) requested $42 million (approximately €38.5 million) to protect access to healthcare for 700,000 people in Ukraine as the war enters its fifth year. The aim is to strengthen emergency and trauma care, maintain essential primary health services, prepare the country for crises and coordinate the medical evacuation of patients requiring specialist care. Since 2022, 2,841 attacks on health facilities have been recorded, while 3.6 million people have been displaced within the country, leading to disruptions in treatment and overwhelming local services. The WHO points out that more than two-thirds of Ukrainians report declining health, and almost half suffer from mental disorders. (LC)
