06/02/26 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 5 February, the European Commission announced on X that it had carried out two transport operations to Yemen and Burundi using humanitarian airlifts. In Yemen, where 2 million people are facing health and food emergencies, the operation mobilised 18 flights to Sanaa and Aden, transporting 296 tonnes of medical equipment. In Burundi, 77 tonnes of essential supplies including shelter, medicines and food were delivered, despite “difficult access conditions”. Hadja Lahbib, Commissioner for Equality, Preparedness and Crisis Management, said she would shortly be travelling to the Great Lakes region to assess the situation on the ground in Burundi. (JM)
