16/12/2025 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 16 December, the European Commission announced the allocation of a further €15 million to tackle the humanitarian crisis caused by the conflict in Myanmar, where clashes between the military junta and armed groups have led to massive population displacements. This aid is being provided in response to worsening food security and the collapse of basic services, particularly following the earthquake earlier this year. Up to €12 million will be devoted to providing food and nutrition assistance to affected communities in the interior of the country. The Commission has announced that €2 million will be used to boost EU support for Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh, which will also focus on food and nutrition. A further €1 million will benefit displaced Burmese and Rohingya refugees in other neighbouring countries, where living conditions remain extremely precarious. (BD)
