16/12/2025 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 15 December, the European Commission approved a Spanish public scheme worth €408 million to encourage investment in the decarbonisation of manufacturing processes at existing industrial plants, in line with the June 2025 Clean Industrial Deal State Aid Framework (CISAF) (see EUROPE 13667/26). Co-funded by Spain’s post-Covid-19 recovery plan, the scheme will provide grants to companies to help them incorporate technologies such as electrification, renewable or low-carbon hydrogen, heat recovery and carbon capture, storage or utilisation in sectors such as the chemical and metallurgical industries, ceramics and paper. The aim is to reduce emissions by around 1.6 megatonnes of CO2. Granted on a ‘first come, first served’ basis, the aid will have a ceiling per beneficiary, will not finance any increase in production and will concern projects that are operational 60 months after being awarded.
