12/11/2025 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission launched a public consultation, open until 5 December, on the advisability of revising and simplifying two delegated acts that supplement the regulation on taxonomy (2020/852 - see EUROPE 12392/14) by setting out technical examination criteria for determining whether an economic activity contributes to achieving the European Union’s six climate and environmental goals (climate change mitigation and adaptation, sustainable use and protection of aquatic and marine resources, circular economy, pollution prevention/reduction and biodiversity). This concerns the delegated acts relating to the climate (2021/2139 - see EUROPE 12703/2) and environmental (2023/2486 - see EUROPE 13200/14) aspects of the taxonomy, adopted in 2021 and 2023 respectively. In July, the Commission had presented a delegated act aimed at simplifying the reporting obligations relating to the application of the European Union taxonomy (see EUROPE 13674/19).
