European Commission appoints new Principal Adviser and two new Deputy Directors-General

12/11/2025 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 12 November, the European Commission announced the appointment of Cypriot Giorgos Rossides to the post of Principal Adviser for relations with internal and external stakeholders within the Internal Audit Service (IAS). The Commission has also appointed Annika Eriksgård (Swedish) as Deputy Director-General of its Directorate-General for Economic and Financial Affairs (DG ECFIN). Italian Maria Cristina Russo has been appointed Deputy Director General for Innovation, Prosperity and International Cooperation. The dates of entry into force of these decisions will be specified at a later date. Finally, the Commission has decided to transfer Lorena Boix Alonso, a Spanish national, to the post of Deputy Director-General in the Directorate-General for Defence Industry and Space (DG DEFIS), “in the interest of the service”. This decision will take effect on 1 January 2026. (CG)
