Major General Maurizio Fronda is expected to become EU Force Commander for Operation ALTHEA

29/10/25 (Agence Europe) – According to a draft decision, the ambassadors of the Member States meeting within the Political and Security Committee are expected to appoint Major General Maurizio Fronda (Italian) as the EU Force Commander for the European Union military operation in Bosnia and Herzegovina (Operation ALTHEA) in the next few days, with effect from 21 January 2026. He will succeed Romanian Major General Florin-Marian Barbu, who has held the position since 21 January 2025....
