29/10/25 (Agence Europe) – The Dutch government’s takeover of Chinese semiconductor subsidiary Nexperia in the Netherlands is causing serious supply problems for carmakers, according to their representative in the EU, ACEA. In retaliation for this takeover, Beijing banned the export of finished components produced in China by Nexperia. These restrictions are affecting European value chains, according to ACEA. Semiconductors produced by Nexperia are used in the electronic systems of new vehicles. According to “a survey of our members this week, some are already expecting imminent assembly line stoppages”, ACEA explained in a press release on Wednesday 29 October. The organisation’s director general, Sigrid de Vries, urged the parties involved in the dispute to “redouble their efforts to find a diplomatic way out of this critical situation”. (LM)
