‘safe third countries’ - European Parliament rapporteur encourages EU-level agreements and abolishes suspensive effect of appeals

On 11 November, members of the European Parliament’s Committee on Civil Liberties are due to debate the draft report by Lena Düpont (EPP, German) on ‘safe third countries’ and the revision of the ‘Asylum Procedures Regulation’ proposed by the Commission (see EUROPE B13701A14).

As a reminder, the revision of the safe third country (STC) concept makes it optional for a connection criterion to be taken into account when returning a person whose asylum application has been rejected...
