28/10/2025 (Agence Europe) – The European Commissioner for Equality, Preparedness and Crisis Management, Hadja Lahbib, has called on the parties to the conflict in Sudan to respect international humanitarian law after recent attacks once again targeted the civilian population. “The nightmare in El Fasher is reaching its peak. Civilians have been killed. Families have been forced to flee the violence of the RSF (Rapid Support Forces). We recall the parties to the conflict to respect International Humanitarian Law. Civilians must be protected and granted safe passage,” declared Ms Lahbib on the X network on the evening of Monday 27 October. The following day, Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) - whose teams work in Tawila, 60 kilometres from the capital of North Darfur - deplored the new influx of civilian victims to its health post. (BD)
