28/10/2025 (Agence Europe) – In its annual report on world gas markets, the International Energy Agency (IEA) said on Monday 27 October that “the coming wave of liquefied natural gas (LNG) production capacity” is set to profoundly transform market dynamics. By 2030, around 300 billion cubic metres per year of new LNG export capacity is expected to be added worldwide, mainly from the US and Qatar. The report also points out that, following the supply shock triggered by the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022, prices have remained well above historical levels. This has subsequently dampened demand, particularly in price-sensitive Asian markets. For 2025 as a whole, growth in global gas demand is expected to slow from 2.8% in 2024 to less than 1% in 2025.
