17/10/2025 (Agence Europe) – In September, the annual inflation rate rose to 2.2% in the euro area, compared to 2.0% in August, according to data that the statistical office of the European Union (Eurostat) published on Friday, 17 October. Inflation is also on the rise across the entire EU, increasing from 2.4% to 2.6%. The highest annual rates were observed in Romania (8.6%), Estonia (5.3%), Croatia (4.6%), and Slovakia (4.6%), whereas the lowest were recorded in Cyprus (0.0%), France (1.1%), Italy (1.8%), and Greece (1.8%). The rise in prices was sustained in Germany (2.4%) and vigorous in Spain (3%). The biggest contribution to euro area inflation came from services (+1.49 percentage points or pp), followed by food, alcohol, and tobacco (+0.58 pp); non-energy industrial goods (+0.20 pp); and energy (−0.03 pp).
