25/08/25 (Agence Europe) – On 11 August, the European Commission launched a call for evidence on the EU’s future plan for cardiovascular health. The call is open to citizens, patient organisations, NGOs, healthcare professionals, researchers and academics. Cardiovascular disease remains the leading cause of death in the EU, being responsible for the loss of 1.7 million deaths each year. It also represents an annual economic cost of more than €280 billion and leads to disability, premature retirement and absenteeism. The future plan will aim to strengthen prevention, screening, treatment, care and rehabilitation. It will also seek to boost innovation and competitiveness in the health sector. Other general and targeted consultations will also form part of this process. Participation will remain open until 15 September 2025. More details: https://aeur.eu/f/i40 (LC)
