Eighteen EU countries have requested “€127 billion” in loans via ‘SAFE’ instrument for military spending, according to Andrius Kubilius

On Tuesday 29 July, eighteen European Union Member States officially called on loans from the European ‘SAFE’ instrument to increase national military spending (see EUROPE B13649A23).

The following countries have expressed an interest: Belgium, Bulgaria, Estonia, Greece, Spain, France, Croatia, Italy, Cyprus, Latvia, Lithuania, Hungary, Poland, Portugal, the Czech Republic, Romania, Slovakia and Finland.
