EU activates civil protection mechanism after fire in Limassol district of Cyprus

24/07/2025 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 24 July, at the request of Cyprus, the European Union activated its civil protection mechanism following a fire on the island, in the Limassol district. Two Canadair aircraft stationed in Spain and forming part of the EU’s joint fire-fighting fleet, RescEU, were mobilised through the EU’s Emergency Response Coordination Centre.
