24/07/2025 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 23 July, the European Union announced a new €12.5 million project to support the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) in their efforts to recover, strengthen security and rebuild communities in southern Lebanon. This includes clearing rubble and unexploded ordnance, repairing essential infrastructure such as water networks and public health centres, and strengthening cooperation with local communities, according to a press release from the EU delegation in Lebanon. This project is being implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). According to EU ambassador Sandra De Waele, the EU and its Member States are providing more than $600 million in aid to areas affected by the conflict in Lebanon. (CG)
