24/07/2025 (Agence Europe) – The European Union has mobilised funding of €150,000 to help the people hardest hit by the heavy rains that fell in June in the department of Ocotepeque, in western Honduras, announced the EU delegation to Honduras in a press release on Wednesday 23 July. This funding, intended to meet the urgent needs of those affected by the disaster, will enable the Honduran Red Cross to distribute drinking water, hygiene kits and water purification equipment. Preventive measures against water-borne and vector-borne diseases are also planned. This funding is part of the EU’s support for the Disaster Response Emergency Fund (DREF) of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. (BD)
