03/07/2025 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 2 July, the Commission approved a revision of the Bulgarian recovery plan to include a ‘RepowerEU’ chapter designed to reduce Europe’s dependence on Russian hydrocarbons (see EUROPE 13625/17). These include measures to promote the production and storage of renewable energies, to facilitate the liberalisation of the electricity market and to combat energy poverty. Containing 50 reforms and 51 investments, the Bulgarian plan has been allocated €6.17 billion in the form of grants alone. Sofia has already received a payment of €1.37 billion. (MB)
