22/04/25 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 16 April, the Bulgarian authorities submitted a request to revise the post-Covid-19 recovery plan, in particular to include a ‘REPowerEU’ chapter intended to reduce the European Union’s dependence on Russian hydrocarbons. Containing three reforms and four investments, this chapter includes, for example, measures to combat energy poverty and prepare for the liberalisation of the retail energy sector, as well as facilitating the connection of renewable energy and storage capacity to the grid. The use of electric vehicles in the provision of social services is also being promoted. Bulgaria also wishes to modify several measures in its recovery plan, while maintaining the overall allocation of €5.69 billion.
